Following the tenets of organic farming, we proudly grow five varieties of mushrooms available year round, including: Portabella, Crimini (Baby Bella), White Button, Shiitake and Oyster. We plant on a 14-day cycle to allow a continuous harvest of our high quality fungi.
From our gourmet salsas and pasta sauces to granola, hot sauces, pickled mushrooms and more, everything we create in our kitchen is made in small batches with large amounts of love. Many of our foods are vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. We never use any fillers or preservatives because we believe in the quality of simple, delicious food, made with only the best ingredients.

May’s Honey Farm, local family-owned and operated for 74 years, is proud to continue to be part of the Woodstock Farmers’ Market. Founded by George May, in 1948, May’s Honey Farm is operated by George’s grandson, Tim and great-grandson, Colin. May’s Honey Farms was invited to join the Woodstock Farmers’ Market in 2011 when previous honey vendors exited, leaving a void in an essential farm market staple: locally produced honey. To fill the gap, George May’s son, Phil, partnered with long-time family friend, Dan Kreusch, to operate May’s booth on The Square. Dan continues May’s year-round representation at The Woodstock Farmers’ Market, providing what many devoted fans say is their favorite honey, Sunny Hill Honey. While the official company motto is “The finest honey in the Chicago area,” stop by May’s booth and you are likely to hear Dan proudly proclaim, “Sunny Hill Honey is the best in the state, since 1948: it ALWAYS tastes great!” Phil always said once folks tried his family’s honey, they’d fall in love with it. Our management practices significantly exceed USDA organic standards. Tillage-based agriculture such as conventional industrial farming (and even most organic farms), that optimize for a low “sticker price,” rely on methods that create the need for potent synthetic fertilizers. Repeated tillage not only prevents accumulation of organic matter, but disrupts the entire subsurface ecosystem of microbes, insects, worms, and ground dwelling bees. Banford Road Farm is a regenerative, no-till, human-powered farm. We are laser-focused on soil health and work to maintain ecological balance all across the property. We have one acre of vegetable production carved out inside of eight acres of woods. Lab data drives our soil regeneration through the use of a Haney soil test that verifies that we are in fact increasing subsurface carbon and building organic matter over time.
