The Wienermobile is Coming to the Market!
We are excited to announce that this Saturday, May 29th, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be joining us at the market! Driven by Woodstock’s very own Katie Ferguson!
Katie, AKA Ketchup Katie, was recruited to become a Hotdogger at the University of Missouri during her senior year of college. Each year Oscar Mayer hires 12 recent college grads to drive the Wienermobile on a coast-to-coast wienie roast! Katie was lucky enough to “cut the mustard” out of 4,000 applicants. Accompanied by her partner, Zach ‘N Cheese, they have been on the road for a whole year, traveling to a new city every week to do events and special experiences with the Wienermobile.
“What I enjoyed the most was meeting people across the country and seeing that we’re all pretty similar in one way or another whether you live in Utah, Oklahoma, or Ohio. Everyone loves the Wienermobile and the joy it brings is unparalleled!” -Katie
Her year has come to an end, and she wants to drive home her season at one of her favorite hometown venues… the Woodstock Farmers Market! We are honored to have her join us that day! We hope you will all come out to help give her a send-off to remember!
LINK Up Illinois LINK Match Grant
We are excited to announce that we were awarded a grant from LINK Up Illinois!
Through the LINK Match program we are able to match LINK dollars spent at the market. This is a wonderful program for our community!
If you are a LINK recipient be sure to stop by our information booth at the market before you begin your shopping. Beginning April 17th we will be matching up to $25 in LINK Match coupons!
Link Match is brought to you by Link Up Illinois.
Link Up Illinois is making healthy, local, farm-fresh foods more affordable and accessible by doubling the value of Link purchases at farmers markets, farm stands, food co-ops, and independent grocery and corner stores across Illinois.
Welcome to the Team
We hope you will all join us in welcoming our new market manager, Jim Kurczodyna, to the Woodstock Farmers Market team!
As many of you know, Keith Johnson is one of the reasons the Woodstock Farmers Market has grown into the award winning market that it is. He helped build the market from the ground up, and his passion to see the market thrive has been key. While we hate to see him step down, we understand that it is time for him to take a step back from the intense job of managing a market that continues to grow. We are excited that he will still remain with the market as a vendor, and we know he will do a great job of training his replacement.
We were delighted to find an applicant that has a passion for farming, agriculture, healthy food, and the health of the land! Jim and his family own a small farm in McHenry County. He has worked with gardening, composting, beekeeping, and raising chickens. He hopes to be able to grow his experiences, and we feel his position with our market will be an excellent opportunity for him.
Jim has completed the Stateline Farm Beginnings course through the Angelic Organics Learning Center, and earned his Permaculture Design Certificate through Mastadon Valley Farm. He worked for a year on a 160 acre non-profit farm in west-central Wisconsin. He has experience in construction management, event organization, leading workshops and discussion groups, and providing advice to farmers and landowners as they navigate their search for land or a farm.
In 2019, Jim left a career in construction with a life goal of contributing to the movement to build an agriculture that produces healthy food and rejuvenates the health of the land. We hope that the Woodstock Farmers Market will be integral in helping him reach that goal.
Welcome to the team, Jim!
